Quasimode - 真昼 [Jeux De Vertige] LP (Di-Stance, 1986)

Brilliant avant-chamber stumble and stomp from this mysterious group. A fascinating album that seems to combine the cosmic whisper of Takami's Tenshi-Kou and the decadent europhilia of Kumiko Suyama and Sonoko, resulting in a creepy and markedly Duppi-like brew. Fitting, considering that the two were compilation-mates on Yuzuru Agi's notoriously unobtainable Ego 02 / Critical Species - Individual Music Osaka 1985 cassette.

avant-chamber music from japan is totally what I am seeking out at the moment. thanks for uploading this, as sh, noise & Takami are all big favorites of mine. I just won that sh 7 inch off ebay for next to nothing...

as far as agi's Ego 02 tape goes... discogs states that klumpa has a copy... have you been in correspondence with him? perhaps he would be nice enough to upload that for the rest of us? haha

btw, have you heard the second Takami LP? the first is favorite of mine and I am wondering if I should throw down the money for the second... I am just weary that the 2nd lp will have much stronger goth & darkwave inflections.

thoughts?

Allen,

Yes, if you like those, you should like this.

Klumpa is quite the heavyweight collector, so I've been cautious about disturbing him. I've just sent him a message about the tape, though.

I haven't heard the 2nd Takami LP, but I'm sure it's good. I wonder why you think it would have goth inflections. Pneuma's oeuvre seems pretty consistent to me.
I think the prices on that LP are a little bit high on discogs...

This is fantastic & bizarre! Thanks

You know, I thought I read somewhere that the second record might have more of a goth vibe, but I might be confusing the second Takami record with the second Taiji record.

Ha, the prices for a record being a bit inflated on discogs?! Never!

This is an unrelated question, but have you heard the Viola Renea LP? I have the split 7 inch with Halations and enjoy it & was wondering if the full length is comparable.

Keep up the good work.

Allen,

Haha, the 2nd TAIJI record is a bit more goth, but still totally incredible. Like a Vanity Records goth band, or something. I really need to post that.

I do have the Viola Renea LP. It's very very different compared to the Halations split. It's warm, psuedo-ethnic new-wave.

I can't extract this because of all the japanese characters. Know a way around this?

Anonymous,

Hmmm, I've never run into that problem. Do you have Japanese language support on your computer? That might help, or a different extractor.
